AMoA offers a wide variety of programs to enhance and compliment our permanent collection and special exhibitions. Our educational programs encourage critical and creative thinking, as well as, increase understanding and appreciatation for the arts and their historical and cultural significance.

Standard Tour

AMoA's Standard Tour program brings art to life for your students! Docents lead your class on an adventure through art and art history as they view our permanent and special exhibtions.

Tour Cost: $1.50 / student; please note that prices are based on groups of 20 or more students, for groups smaller than 20 please contact the Education Department.

Grades: K-12

Duration: 1-2 Hours; time is based on grade level



Enhanced Tour

AMoA's Enhanced Tour program gives student's a multidimensional museum experience including tours of the museum galleries, as well as, a hands-on art activity! First, docents lead students through the museum explaining the artists and their works while engaging the students in discussion. A hands-on art activity then helps students better understand what they have seen during the tour by allowing them the materials, training and tools to be creative and encouraging them to think critically about different art forms.

Tour Cost: $2.75 / student; please note that prices are based on groups of 20 or more students, for groups smaller than 20 please contact the Education Department.

Grades: K-6

Duration: 1-2 hours; time is based on grade level

PRICE COLLECTION OF ASIAN ART

Exhibition Dates: August 2009 - May 2010; Tuesday - Friday, 9 am - 3 pm

The Price Collection of Asian Art highlights AMoA's collection of Indian and Southeast Asian art. Incredible sculptures and textiles reflect influences from Eastern religion and philosophy while symbolizing the art and culture of these regions.

ACHIEVEMENTS IN ART: AMARILLO HIGH SCHOOL FINE ART COLLECTION

Exhibition Dates: January 31, 2010 - April 11. 2010; Tuesday - Friday, 9 am - 3 pm

The Amarillo High School Fine Art Collection was first developed by former Amarillo High prinicpal R.B. Norman in 1945. Norman initiated the collection with three criteria: the works must be displayed in the school for students, alumni and the community to enjoy; the works must be an investment for the school and no local artist work would be purchased to avoid ill feelings. This collection highlights works from Romantic Realism, American Impressionism, Tonalism, Barbizon Style adn Taos School movements in American and European Art.

AMARILLO COLLEGE/WEST TEXAS A&M STUDENT FACULTY SHOW

Exhibition Dates: April 16, 2010 - May 2, 2010; Tuesday - Friday, 9 am - 3 pm

The AC/WTAMU Student Faculty Show is the Museum's annual review of artwork created by current students and faculty at Amarillo College and West Texas A&M University. This exhibition features intriguing explorations into photography, painting, printmaking, drawing, sculpture, ceramics and mixed media.

PANHANDLE STUDENT SHOW

Exhibition Dates: May 7, 2010 - May 23, 2010; Tuesday - Friday, 9 am - 3 pm

The Panhandle Student Show represents the culmination of artistic dedication for both art students and teachers. The show exemplifies the talent, vision and dedication of the Panhandle's middle and high school art students through a variety of media such as painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics and more.
